Ashlyn's Last GTMO Dance Recital

This morning was Ashlyn's last dance recital here in GTMO (bet you couldn't tell by the title of this post). I am really sad about it because Ashlyn has the best, most patient teacher. The place we are more than likely putting her in dance class in Jacksonville seems great, too. Just being there to play (at a place called O2B Kids) the supervisors seemed very nice and patient so I'm hoping it will be the same for the dance instructors. Anyway, Ashlyn loves Ms. Michelle so much! I was glad that she was able to have one more dance class session and recital.


For some reason at the last two dance classes (maybe because there was such a big break between classes due to us being gone and the teacher going off island?) Ashlyn was very shy and didn't want to dance. At the last dance class she at least danced the second half of class. This morning she started off not wanting to dance, but at least she stood up there and didn't try to come be with us.


Eventually (after she saw Daddy got her pink flowers... her favorite) she danced. The dances she participated in were Beach Ball (Port de bra)...


... and Butterflies & Bees (Plie).


The girls bowed afterward and then there was the elementary school aged ballet/jazz class, middle & high school hip-hop class (that was Ashlyn's favorite to watch), and the adult belly dancing class. After everyone danced all the girls went up for group pictures.


This is the first time that the girls got certificates, too! I was so excited and of course I cried when I saw it. :) Here is the certificate she got and the flowers Aaron got for her.

How sweet is that? It is going in her room after it stays out with her flowers. :)
