Pirate Rock

Okay, well, we were only at Disney for 2 (not even full) days, but there are a lot of pictures and stories to share.  So I am going to break it up into 2 or 3 posts.  I feel sorry for you guys already for how many posts that means our 3 day major birthday trip in September is going to warrant.  Anyway, this post I will share a few more pictures from the Neverland Pirate Band concert.

Ashlyn loves watching Jake and the Neverland Pirates on Disney Junior.  We had a short, 7 song CD that came with a DVD of the show that we always listen to, also.  Sharky and Bones are the musicians in the pirate band.  They have music videos at the end of the episodes and have character versions of themselves in the show as well as minor characters.  Anyway, Ashlyn dressed as Izzy (the little girl pirate on the show).  Here she is waiting for the concert to start.

This is actually before the 2nd concert.  They played at 2, 3, and 5 with a meet and greet with Sharky and Bones at 4.  But for some reason Ashlyn has been needing to warm up to social interaction.  Especially on such a big scale.  The first concert at 2 she barely looked like she enjoyed it.  But she raved about it afterward so we thought we'd try again at 3.  She agreed to stand by the stage the second time and was glad she did.  We didn't get any pictures (boo!) but she shook hands with Jake twice and completely flipped out, fangirl style.  The first time she turned around to me with this look on her face like "OMG, Mom, I TOUCHED JAKE!"  I think she has a little crush on him.  :)  He's the pirate in the middle there.

Ashlyn had found this spyglass she really wanted and it was a whole $5 so we went ahead and got it for her along with a full length CD of the band.  We got the CD because, well, we all love the music and it would also give us a pass into the meet and greet to get the CD signed.  Here is the progression of what we call Ashlyn's paparazzi shots while we were in line waiting for the meet and greet.

She was playing around because she saw me block the camera because Aaron kept taking unwanted pictures of me with little to no warning (as would be the theme to our trip).  The spyglass ended up allowing for some great interaction.  Especially since Ashlyn didn't want to really talk to them, but was still super excited.  Here she is with Sharky

and with Bones.

Afterward, we went over to the Rainforest Cafe for dinner.  It started pouring while we were there so Aaron ran to buy a big golf umbrella.  It actually wasn't too expensive (like a dollar less than the small umbrellas all the shops were selling and way cheaper than 3 ponchos) and it will be great to be able to have a big umbrella in each car (since we already had a big one at home).  We were talking about going to a park and watching fireworks and getting our annual passes, but by the time we got back to the hotel, it was 7 and we thought it would be good to go to sleep early and get an early start the next day.

Tomorrow I will post about our day at the Magic Kingdom!
