There was some trial and error, but we have a good routine now. She used to just chew on the spout whenever there was water or too little milk in it. But now I just put a few ounces of breast milk in the cup and she drinks away. It was cute the first time she realized she could get milk from it. She was just chewing away and ended up sucking once and she coughed because she wasn't expecting it! Then she got a look of epiphany on her face and started to drink. I didn't catch that on video, but I got one of her taking a few sips this afternoon.
We have also found out that our not-so-little girl had a pretty major growth spurt recently. We had a WIC appointment a few days ago and Ashlyn had to be weighed and measured. She hasn't gained much yet from her 6 month well-baby appointment (not quite a pound), but she grew nearly two inches in this last month! We knew she had a growth spurt because her rolls are less pronounced and we noticed we are getting closer to having to raise up her jumper. But I didn't realize it was 2 inches!! So now she'll probably pack on some weight to get ready for her next spurt.
