On Friday mornings the library here on base has storytime for the kids. They sing songs and read a story. We went on Friday for the first time and Ashlyn had so much fun! She was talking and smiling and loved watching the other kids. Before the story each morning, the kids sing the "Good Morning" song. Each kid (well, the ones who want to) goes up to the front and says something they have that day that they like (shoes, shirt, stuffed animal, etc.) and they incorporate it into the song. For example, when it was Ashlyn's turn they used me as her "thing." *LOL* So the song goes something like "Good morning, good morning, we like the pretty mommy that you have. We like her so much we're gonna put her in a song, in a song, in a song. We're gonna put Ashlyn and her mommy in a song." And they change it each time based on the kid's name and their object. While the kids sing, the child in question stands up front (or in Ashlyn's case, on my lap) and jumps up and down. It is way too cute. I am definitely planning on taking Ashlyn every week.
Another thing I am planning on doing is checking out a new book for Ashlyn each week. This week we got
The Berenstain Bears' New Kitten. It is pretty cute. She has other Berenstain Bears books and loves cats, so it seemed perfect for the first book.

There is a really cute picture in the book that isn't an important part of the story (it's not mentioned in the story at all) but was just perfect for our family. It shows Sister Bear petting the kitten who is standing on the table next to the Baby Bear's chair. Well, you can see Baby Bear's hand reaching out and grabbing the cat's tail. Just like what Ashlyn does to Ali!

So we definitely got a kick out of that. I am going to have a weekly post on my other blog kinda reviewing each book, too. And as Ashlyn gets older I think we'll incorporate some sort of craft that corresponds with what we are reading that week. It was a really fun morning and we look forward to doing it again next week!
