Vacation Bible School

This year our church is doing Crocodile Dock for VBS. This is my second year volunteering and this time I am the Station Leader for the Snack Shack. It has been so much fun! Yesterday Aaron was off so he got to hang out with Ashlyn and they came to visit me and check out the nursery. The preschoolers made the snack for all the kids yesterday. It was a Burning Bush in a Bowl. The chips on the bottom represented the sand in the desert, the lettuce and cheese represented the bush, and a cherry tomato on top represented the fire God spoke through. The kids had so much fun making it!

Today, Aaron had to work part of the day so Ashlyn stayed in the nursery for a little while. She did pretty well. Aaron was able to stick around for a little bit, take a few pictures, and helped pour some water for the kids. A different group made the snacks for everybody (a different group makes it each day). Today's snack was Bugs and Boils. It was kind of like trail mix with marshmallows, pretzels, Fruit Gushers, raisins, and mini chocolate chips. Each treat represented the plagues that God sent when Pharoah refused to let the Israelites go.


A lot of people have volunteered this year and the kids seem to be having a lot of fun! I will post again on Friday to let you know how the rest of the week goes! Ashlyn will be going into the nursery during most of VBS tomorrow and Thursday. I'm nervous, of course, but I am right next to the nursery so they can come get me or bring Ashlyn to me if she is unhappy or something. And on Friday Aaron will be off so he gets to hang out with her. He is going to bring her over to the church later in the morning so we can watch the last Firefly Finale together (I think Ashlyn will like all the kids singing and dancing) and there will be a cookout afterwards.


Oh, and one last little thing, Ashlyn rolled over today! She is definitely catching up quickly now that she doesn't have to wear her brace. She rolled over both ways. We were so excited! :) Have a fabulous evening!
